Fix: Apple Wireless Keyboard Battery Corroded and Stuck

Once I tried to change the battery on Mac Wireless Keyboard. But the battery cap was stuck. I didn’t know whether the battery cap was stuck or the battery was corroded. Sometimes battery cap will stick because of battery corrosion. Some of the Apple Wireless Keyboard users gave me some solutions to fix my problem. Here I am going to share those solutions.

Solution 1: Use Baking Sodaneutralizing alkaline batteries

  1. Take a cup of water and baking soda. Mix them well.
  2. Make the cloth wet by using this solution and rub it around the cap. Then try to remove the battery cap; or
  3. You can see two small rubber strips under the battery. Poke one of the strips which is next to the end screw. There you can see two little holes. Pour the baking soda solution into the holes.
  4. Now you can remove the corroded batteries.

you can also use baking soda with vinegar. While using this solution, prevent the other parts of the keyboard from becoming wet. You can use the hairdryer to dry the whole keyboard.

Solution 2: Use screwdriverlenghty screwdriver

  1. Take a screwdriver with a flat wedge-shaped tip.
  2. Align the screwdriver to the groove on the battery cover
  3. Turn the battery cap clockwise
  4. Tap the end of the screwdriver with hammer
  5. While doing this the slot which is on the battery cap may get damaged, but finally, you can open it. Then take out the batteries outside

Solution 3: Use pliers

  1. Drill a small hole where the battery was stuck. It will lose the battery in case it is corroded.
  2. Slide a wood screw into the hole.
  3. Grab the wood screw with pliers to pull out the batteries.

Solution 4: Use coin/penny

  1. Turn off the keyboard.
  2. Remove the battery compartment cap by using a coin/penny.
  3. Take out the batteries from the battery compartment.

Solution 5: By using vinegar

  1. Take a few drops of Vinegar.
  2. Pour it into the battery compartment tube.
  3. Soak the end of the battery compartment cap into the container which is filled with vinegar. This method will help you to take out the corroded batteries.

Solution 6: by screwdrivergrey plastic panel

  1. We can see a grey plastic panel which is placed in the center of the rounded spine of the keyboard. Remove the panel by using a screwdriver.
  2. After that remove a single Philips screw in the Bluetooth module.
  3. Then take out the batteries outside.

Other Solutions :

If the battery cap stuck because of battery corrosion, you can try these solutions.

  1. Tap the battery cap anti-clockwise to remove the battery cover. Then take out the batteries outside.
  2. Apply heat to the keyboard near the battery cap to make it lose. Then remove the batteries.
  3. Use WD-40 (Water Displacement) to prevent your battery from corrosion.
  4. Make a small cut beside the battery cap to make it loosen. After that take out the batteries outside.

If the keyboard gets damaged while changing the batteries, you had better go with a new one.
